Born March 13th, 1971 in London, England but moved to Chicago at the age of five years old and has lived there ever since. He still carries a hint of an English accent. He doesn't talk to his family much anymore; just on holidays and birthdays.

Full name is Kalen Michael McNamera and he sometimes allows his closest friends to call him Kale, though he doesn't count himself as a person with many "close" friends -- mainly acquaintances.

Went to university for a semester and absolutely hated it; dropped out and decided to focus on a career as a writer. It hasn't worked out but he keeps trying, writing and re-writing almost the exact same script for the past ten years now. His other ones sit rotting in his drawer waiting for his attention and he just never seems to be able to work on them for more than five minutes.

He's never been married and has only had two serious relationships. He tends to go from girl to girl, dumping them right around the time it becomes serious, and pretends to be happy this way but he's starting to itch for something a bit more.

Has always been more of a "fighter than a lover", jumping too quick to get into fights with his fists when words might do, but he's also not above a wisecracking remark or two.

Alternates between working as a club bouncer a few nights a week and as a DJ in a strip bar. He's bonded with most of the girls he works with at the strip bar and keeps an eye out for them, ready to step in if they're being faced with any trouble. The threat of him being summoned is usually enough for most guys to get the hint and step off -- but not always. He chose both jobs because they put food on the table since his writing isn't selling, and has ended up enjoying the work more than he'd ever admit.

Has a secret love for Kylie Minogue and her music that he'll never confess to, pretending he's above all that.

Thinks of himself as pretty settled and comfortable in his life, but carries around a vague sense of dissatisfaction, mostly due to his romantic life and his never-ending unsellable script.

Has a male cocker spaniel named Ashley. Swears this isn't because of Gone With The Wind. This is a lie, it's one of his favourite books and movies, but much like the Kylie Minogue love, this would have to be dragged out of him.

Also harbours a secret obsession with Andy Warhol and has sat through all the hours of the movie Empire. He thinks of this as a proud accomplishment and one of the highlights of his life.

Is a homebody and doesn't much like the idea of travel, thinks it's a chore to do all that packing and unpacking and planning.

Likes to play the game where you sit somewhere looking at people and try to guess things about their life based on their appearance or what they seem to be doing, and is quite good at inventing the stories. Never thinks to use these in his writing, though.
